Eating disordered people are known for sticking to monotonous routines and if their plans get distracted, they go mad. Like, CRAZY mad. But I know of a lot of people who do not suffer from any ED that are stuck in a rut. They wish to achieve more satisfactory results and objectives in life but they are not ready to leave their comfort zone as they believe that their current state offers them mental security. Reality is that if one will not experience some discomfort or a bit of anxiety, progress will not occur.
How would you expect to get to the finish line if you do not walk or run? How would you expect to achieve a good grade if all you do is sleep and party all day and night? How would you expect to get up when you fall if you are afraid of being laughed at? How would you expect to earn extra money if you do not wish to work extra hours?
Stepping out of your comfort zone is not an easy task. One of the biggest issues which may hold you back from taking a risk is that of being laughed at. Rome was not built in a day and one has to keep in mind that successful people started from somewhere. They experienced similar feelings. They feared being laughed at, they were scared of being rejected or simply thought themselves silly. All one has to do in order to succeed is to try and think positive and if things turn against one’s odds, there will be no need to fear. Experience can make you a stronger person.

We tend to aim for perfection or set unrealistic goals then we end up sad and discouraged when our targets are not achieved. Truth is that if you still cling to your comfort zone you will still live in your illusion and will continue to set yourself up for further frustration and disappointment. All you have to do is move on and try other methods which can help you achieve your REALISTIC goals. If you keep on pushing yourself, new boundaries will become easier to overcome.
Try to do different things everyday. Experience the taste of a type of food which you have never tasted before, attend a new fitness class, take a different route to work, watch a new television series or try to make a new friend. Trust yourself to take small steps. If you do things abruptly, you might get uncomfortable and anxious thus end up seeking refuge in your comfort zone, which does not offer progress!
Take your boundaries to new levels. Getting out of your comfort zone is a learning experience in itself. It makes you a stronger person and as you go along you start to trust yourself more and get to learn about yourself - your personality and capabilities which might help you further you chances of success. Life is more exciting and challenging when we break away from our usual routines!
